On a related subject, is there a way to override the AC from coming on with defrost? Or if it can't be overriden at least the ability to turn off the AC once in defrost mode manually. Currently when the AC is on because of defrost mode, it is impossible to turn it off. And yes I know how do defrost my windows so I don't need an explanation on the merits of using the AC when defrosting windshield. Thanks |
Re: Civic Hybrid AC
I live in Baton Rouge, which is definately a "hot area". So I can tell you
that the hybrid works just fine under such conditions. When the engine stops, if the "auto" system is on, the AC and blower will also stop. If the car has been running long enough to cool the interior, this is not a problem. If not, the system can be made to keep running several different ways. Once the engine has stopped, you let up on the brake just long enough to keep the engine running (this is usually what I do). You can also deactivate the economy system so that the engine won't stop. You can also turn the fan control from automatic and it keeps running even if the engine isn't running. I have a question for the group, is this the only source for information regarding the hybrid? I have lots of technical questions specific to it.
