I also like to believe there is no gas mileage difference between reg and
super.
Super is to be used in case the engine knocks ( going uphill, very hot
weather, vehicule heavily loaded, etc)
Some manufacturers recommend super especially if the compression ratio is
close to 10:1 or higher ( My 98 Maxima) while others with same ratio
recommend regular octane gas (2002 Odyssey)
