It takes experience and a special kind of knack to deal with frozen bolts.
In any case the timing belt should be replaced at the same time, because
removal of the parts to get at the belt provides access to the pump. You
need experience working on cars to tackle this job.

If an 88 LX is like an 87 LXi, you don't have to remove the timing belt to
get to the pump. You MIGHT have to loosen the plastic TB cover so it moves
over just a bit. The belts are the PITA. A good time to inspect/replace.

get to the pump. You MIGHT have to loosen the plastic TB cover so it moves

I agree, Dave, sometimes you do OTHER things while in there -- even if
they do not NEED it at that moment -- so you DON'T have to go in there
again later on.

It's called following the "Enhanced Maintenance Scehdule" rather than
the "Standard" schedule...it's the "work smarter, not harder" concept
applied to auto maintenance/repair.
