Re: honda care pricing--what did you pay?

Just walked out the door this afternoon with a 7yr/100,000 mile / $50
deductible for $795.

The secret is mentioning the competition. When they asked if I wanted
coverage I said they were too expensive and I was going with Fireman's Fund
or American Security on www.MBAdirect.com. and gave their price. They met
their price. The financial officer said it was the best price they had ever
given. Who knows.

Sounds like someone else in this group got something better. Damn

Re: honda care pricing--what did you pay?

You don't say which Honda model you have. Each is priced differently.
If it is the 4 cyl Accord like mine, you could get it a little cheaper
through Megan. Probably not worth the hassle of changing unless you're
concerned about the $50 deductible, but I believe there is a
cancellation period on the extended warranty purchase. You could
threaten to cancel and switch and get them to at least move you to a
$0 deductible.

Bottom line is that it sounds like you got a very reasonable deal.

Re: honda care pricing--what did you pay?

I don't believe that location has any impact on the Honda Care
pricing, though dealer competition may dictate local dealer pricing.
After all, people move all the time.

I have a brochure on the Honda Care, but you're right, it doesn't give
you the full list. Maybe that's the reason for the cancellation
period.

Re: honda care pricing--what did you pay?

We are talking about insurance. Assuming we get a 'fair' price, then it is
just like life insurance, fire insurance, collision insurance, etc. Why buy
any insurance? Each person has to decide their life philosophy.

I take care of my cars and yet in the last twenty years I have had two
transmissions go bad, a water pump go bad on the road in Colorado. a warped
head, had the computer replaced, the heater core replace. Any one of those
paid for the plan. And with insurance I have an advocate that gets me a fair
deal at the repair shop. That alone is worth a lot.

To change a water pump in the middle of Colorado cost me $700 counting
parts, labor, motel, and food.

If I have a breakdown anytime during the seven years, they pay for a rental
car and motel and meals if I am away from home. Also they provide towing.
