IMHO
Both are fine but they are not in each others league. The RX is a
luxo SUV that does not want to get dirty. Beautifully finished with
top quality material.

The Pilot is closer to, but not quite a true SUV. As for or its looks,
beauty is really in the eye of the beholder. For me, neither the
Pilot or the Highlander win any awards. If you need a true SUV/4X4
than you should be looking at the 4Runner or the Nissan Pathfinder.
The Pilot and the Highlander are close but not good for much more than
going on forest trails. The rest will get you to the country club in
the snow. (Given the amount of snow we had in the North East last
winter that is a BIG plus :-)

Nice looking SUV both outside and inside.
A few thoughts.
The Good:
Designed in conjunction with Porsche.

Has the wonderful Porsche Tiptronic auto.

Interior reminds me of a Range Rover.

The Picky and the Bad .
You have to get the V8 to get most of the neat options.

Price can run up real fast.

If I read the option list correctly you can't get wood trim with the
V6. I like wood.

VW's quality record is abysmal. J.D. Powers rankings just came out
for 2003. VW is ranked 5th from last in dependability. Beating only
KIA, Land Rover, Daewoo, and Sazuki(?).

Seats on the V6 are Leatherette. Excuse me, Vinel Seats by any other
name is still vinel seats!

Who makes the AWD system? VW has no history of 4WD/AWD.

It is the first year of the car. In general, but with exceptions,
Japanese cars are kept 6mo to 1yr at home to workout problems.

Actually, VW has been making Audi AWD cars for many years.
