Re: NEVER BUY WALMART'S BATTERIES OR YOU WILL BE SORRY
I thought I needed a battery for one of my cars this fall, but it
turned out to just need water. It's a Costco Kirkland fitment #3 battery, with a 100 month warranty. It's been at least 120 months since I put it in the car and it still works great. I only add distilled water. Anyway, when I thought I needed batteries I priced them. K-Mart wanted $80, Walmart wanted in the high $60s and Costco's 100 month battery was $54 and if they are still as good as they were ten years ago I would recommend the Costco battery. I use International DieHards in my 300 TDT Benz. I did have one go bad, but they replaced it free with a full warranty on the replacement. They stand by their warranty, no questions asked. |

They stand by their warranty, no questions asked. Sears in NW Phoenix tried to cheat me out of a warranty on a battery that was only a year old. It showed low voltage at no load and a dead cell with a hydrometer. The dead cell stayed at zero volts even after charging, but Sears wouldn't replace the battery under warranty because their automatic testing machine indicated that it was OK, and Sears insisted on going by the machine exclusively. So I went back to Sears the next night, about five minutes before closing, and got a new battery for about $10. |

What was the ten dollars for, assuming that you got a replacement battery under warranty? Did they charge you for labor, even though it was warranty work? This was one of their cheapo batteries, not a Diehard, and the no-charge replacement period was just 90 days. |
