There was a large quantity (I heard 100,000) of transmissions built in Ohio
(?) and installed in another plant that had a defect that would cause the
transmission to fail when a trailer was hitched to the vehicle. Affected
Odeysseys and some others. Honda is AFAIK replacing (not fixing) all failed
transmissions under warranty.

They are relacing all trannies under 15k and only those over 15k that show
the indicated wear on the 2nd gear. If no wear is present on those over 15k
they install an oil jet to lubricate that gear and prevent damage.

Go back and read the recall. No transmissions under 15k are being replaced.
They get the oil jet. Those over 15k get the second gear photographed and it
is determined if it is bad enough to replace the transmission.

it only seems to be the ones that tow large loads at steady spped
for a long time that exhibit the said failure. around town drivers
are fine. out of the 100+ i've seen so far only one got a tranny, and
it had 80k on it.
