Steel *can* be stronger than aluminum, and in VERY well designed components can be lighter as well, but with shifters that is usually not the case. The better ones usually include a urethane bushing, which helps take up the slop quite a bit. Some are bent, some are straight. Mine is bent in one spot, not two, and is very well constructed of aluminum, with a chrome finish. It tends to squeak, so make sure you lube the ball well. Nate |
