Re: What are "press-on" rotors?
I have a '87 Honda Accord, and my left-front rotor is warped. I took it to a muffler & brake shop and they quoted me almost $300! They said that Honda rotors were the press-on type, and had to be taken to a machine shop to be pressed on. However, when I looked up rotors in my Haynes manual, they didn't mention anything about rotors having to be pressed on; they slide off like any other rotor. My question is, what year did Honda start using the press-on type rotor, and how do I tell which type mine is, without risking rendering the car undriveable? Also, the Haynes manual mentioned something about if the rotor was stuck, you could thread two bolts into the smaller holes and tighten them to loosen the rotor that way. Hope it helps in answering my question, because I DON'T want to have to spend $300 just to replace my rotors if I can do it myself. -- sonic412781 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via RealCarAudio.com - The checkmate of the caraudio community. http://www.RealCarAudio.com sonic412781's Profile: http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/m...fo&userid=2076 View this thread: http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/s...threadid=11055 |
