- Recall for CRV -
Does anyone what the recall problem is ? I heard something about it on the news today. Vehicle catching on fire or something. Thanks in advance. |

Isn't it a defective seat switch on the passenger side. Has to do with

I dont know I guess its best to call up an authorized dealer to find out. I heard something about fire hazard. Maybe its an electrical fire hazard ? |

There is no recall related to this. The NHTSA invesitgated this and closed the investigation without requesting a recall. I believe the investigation has been re-opened. The particular material used in the original oil filter gaskets had a tendency to stick to the engine block, making it easy for service technicians to forget to remove them. The material has now been changed. |

Honda just announced on Dec. 8th a new campaign strategy to assure customers
about the oil filter controversy. This may be what you've been hearing about. Notification to dealers is as follows: Background: American Honda is announcing a Customer Assurance Program that affects all 2003 and 2004 model year CR-Vs and selected 2005 model year CR-Vs. We have found that oil filter gaskets on 2003 and later model year CR-Vs have a slightly greater tendency to adhere to the engine block only during the first oil filter change. If the replacement filter is installed on top of the original gasket ("double gasket" situation), leakage occurs shortly thereafter, usually within a few miles of driving or immediately following a cold start when the oil pressure is higher. The result has been oil leakage and, in some cases, engine compartment fires. 1. At PDI, immediately begin replacing factory installed oil filters on 2004-05 CR-Vs with a service replacement oil filter. 2. We will send all affected CR-V owners a notification letter, alerting them to this potential first oil filter change problem. Customer Notification This customer assurance program affects about 318,000 customer vehicles. Letters will be mailed to all known owners December 10 thru 17. The customer notification comes with an oil filter gasket label. In the letter, the customer is instructed to bring the label with them to their first oil filter replacement service and to have the service advisor attach it to the repair order. The label reminds technicians to return the old filter gasket to the customer, to verify it was properly removed. OEM oil filter gaskets have a slightly greater tendency to adhere to the engine block than do replacement oil filter gaskets. Service replacement oil filters do not have this tendency. Keep in mind that this program only applies to the very first oil filter replacement on 2003-05 CR-Vs. I hope this answers your question.
