Removing factory stereo 93 civic lx

I need to remove the factory stereo to put my mp3 stereo in. For anyone who
has done this before, do I have to remove everything starting from the bolts
under the steering colum and in front of the shifter on the underside of the
console there? Or is there an easier way like hidden fasteners under the
controls etc..
