is it possible to reset new ECU's by disconnecting the battery?

Yes, but then you must do an idle re-learn.

ok, so its just disconnect the negative, leave it for a bit, then turn on
and let it idle until warm, then turn off and your set?

I was under the impression it isn't in the owners manual?
