resonance chamber?
Hey there.
Don't mind me I'm having one of those months. I had a rock come up and hit the underside of my car(Accord 2001). It dammaged my resonance chamber(actually shattered it), shredded the splash guard and cracked the bumper. My car's just coming off lease this month so I'm scraping up the cash to buy it(or at least supplement what the bank's willing to lend me). I've done some minor repairs to my car but this is going to be my biggest job yet. It's got to pass a safety inspection before I can actually own it so that's why I've got to get this thing fixed. Bit of a catch-22. I've got a couple of questions: 1) After doing some reading in my trusty rusty Hayes Accord book(98-99 I'm waiting for the 2001 version) it recomended disconnecting the battery so the airbags don't go off. Good idea. Now, I believe the factory radio/cd player is anti-theft, so do I just call up Honda and ask them for the code? Is there anything else that requires a code to operate if it loses power? 2) What the heck does a resonance chamber do? I asked the guy at the honda shop and he had no idea. When you mentioned 'smashed' and splash guard, it sounds like you're under the hood, not under the passenger's butt. The resonance chamber that's part of the intake just filters out the 'growl' that an engine makes (thru the air filter) when you tromp it. That's why it's not necessary on a Honda / Toyota / Mazda that's been 'riced' up. It's made of a kind of plastic that's hard to glue, but you could get one CHEAP at an auto wrecker (if we're talking about the same thing) 'Curly' ============== |
