rust problems - treatment?
I've recently discovered, having my car (civic) on jackstands to change
break pads, that a lot of the underbody components have serious rust problems. I live in Canada, so this is to be expected I guess. It's most pronounced in the area of the exhaust manifold, it's litereally rusting and breaking apart. Is there anything I can do to stop/inhibit rust growth, aside from just cleaning what I can with a wire brush? I am talking about parts that were not originally painted, metallic surfaces. TIA, any advice/experience is appreciated |

Re: rust problems - treatment?
Undercoating may help some parts, but that weekly wash really is the best
PM. Don't you have those "touchless" washes that have the undercarriage spray? Re: rust problems - treatment?
If you undercoat a dirty under carriage, you are trapping dirt under the
undercoat, causeing a bigger problem. How old is this car? At this point all you can do is a search for a rust inhibitor, that can be sprayed on after the undercarriage has been cleaned and wash the salt off as much as possible in the winter.
