Scratched Windshield
My 2004 Accord has some fine scratches on the windshield. I think from
cleaning a major seagull dump that contained some abrasive particles. Any suggestions for removing? Thanks, Greg |

I had my windshield buffed by a glass installation place last year to remove some heavy scratches (from a bit of grit that was trapped under the wiper blade). I think there's a product in the market that it's called : "Cerium Oxide"
It's a product that has to be applied with one of those buffing machines!... It's actually a polisher, but you have to do it with the machine, not by hand!..The price is around $ 13.00 usd per can (something like a pound)!... You use it with a just a little water (like sand paper)!... Check with your insurance company to see if they will pay for it
without a deductable. Here in FL, the insurance company has paid for 2 different windshields for me! I assume there is a state law requiring them to replace it because it is such an important safety issue for the other people who have to be around the person driving the damaged windshield. |

In fact I never even saw a bill. I never even saw them replace the glass ... the people came to the location of my car and repaired it on the street or at work. I never signed any authorization to repair it....just a phone call and that was it. State Farm did not inspect the window. I too was surprised at no deductible - so my only conclusion was that the state had a public safety policy that assures people have good visibility while driving. The first windshield had a streak left from running it through a car wash. The second was a nick in the glass from a stone on the highway. |
