Seat belt Bolt
 

I have a 2005 Honda Civic coupe. I took off the side panels to run some
wire. In order to take it off, I had to take out the bolt that holds on the
seat belt on the bottom. The bolt was very stiff to put back in, and once
its in all the way, you can continue to turn it forever (although it is
relatively stiff to turn) but it doesn't just stop turning. Is this safe,
or should I get it checked out?

You should get it checked out, in my opinion. Your life is worth more than a
few dollars that it may cost to properly have it installed.

You should get it checked out, in my opinion. Your life is worth more than a
few dollars that it may cost to properly have it installed.

Sounds like you completely messed up the thread on the bolt/nut. You should
have been alarmed when the bolt wouldn't go in easily.
Now I guess you better have this checked out indeed.

Sounds like you completely messed up the thread on the bolt/nut. You should
have been alarmed when the bolt wouldn't go in easily.
Now I guess you better have this checked out indeed.

I know, it may seem like a foolish idea that your life may depend on a seat
belt. But on Veteran's Day weekend two women I work with were involved in a
high speed rollover accident. Both suffered concussions from being battered
against the door frames and the driver is recovering from a broken neck (3
fused vertebrae, but no paralysis). Their chance of being able to recover if
they had not been belted in (and the belts working right) was flat zero. The
driver had asphalt in her face and hands from the roof gouging the freeway
surface. You'll get that seat belt checked out, I hope?
