I always use the ND. or NGK in my Hondas. Check the under hood sticker
for the part number. bob

Re: Spark Plug preference

I use what my owner's manual recommends. In the case of my 91 Civic, they're NGK
non-platinum. (There might be one other brand recommended in the manual.)

A dealer put platinums in my car a few years ago. I have since changed them out.
I don't notice any better performance. I suppose the platinums might last
longer, but IIRC from reading on the net it may not be enough to justify the
higher expense.

Re: Spark Plug preference

My 91 Civic Si had a set of SplitFire plugs, then recently it started to
miss in low RPMs. I replaced them a set of Nippon Denso (non-Iridium 3808).
$1.69 at AutoZone. Now it runs great and getting 31 mpg.

Bosch are overrated when it comes to Platinum. I read somewhere a long time
ago that the platinum they use is from recycled catalytic converters. If
you need a hotter plug, I suggest the Denso Racing Iridium. Iridium is way
better than platinum.

stick with NGK or ND.
save your money and use standard plug and replace every 2 yr.

Re: Spark Plug preference

jjjsan,

i am curious, my 2001 honda civic sedan seems to be running fine, and
in reading the manual it says that the first tuneup is not due until
110,000 miles and to replace the spark plugs then, and i got 50,000
miles now.

Do you notice a difference when you replace the plugs, and how big a
difference?

tia,
Fish

I have just put NGK platinum's in my 92 Civic. They ran me about $2.50 a
piece (before tax) That and a new set of NGK wires set me up right...
