SRS Indicator Light
Honda Accord EX 4dr year 2000 model.
Just noticed the SRS indicator light (red) stays on. What could be wrong? Blown SRS related fuse(s) - is there any? I'm trying to troubleshoot and fix it myself, if it's easy enough. I'll check the fuse box tomorrow. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it yourself? Thanks much. |
Re: SRS Indicator Light
This is NOT an area that you should mess with. SRS (suplemental
restraint system)---(AIRBGAG) is very sensitive and can be deployied simply by useing an analog test device (volt/ohm meter). It is something you should take to a certified technician. I saw some warnings on the hood related to the SRS and it made me afraid to fool with it. |

Re: SRS Indicator Light
You can reset the indicator light and if it comes on again have it checked
out. The SRS lights can be triggered by something as simple as a cell phone being used in the front seat. I found the reset procedure on a Honda site: http://hondapartx.com/troubleshootin...s/id-6362.html It worked for me the other night and the light has not come on again. The dealer wants to charge you an $88.00 diagnostic fee to do the same thing. If the light comes back on again you may have to get it serviced. Re: SRS Indicator Light
Thanks for the link and cost info. 88 bucks is a lot. On the one hand, I'd
like to give it a shot... fixing it myself and save some $. At the same time I'm afraid that I goof up (such as shorting wrong wires) and end up setting off the SRS which will cost me more $ to have em put back in place. In addition, I may get thrown to the back seat and look like I've been bitch slapped by some chicks :-) How hard is it really? I think finding the correct wires to short is the most important thing. I really want to try it. Re: SRS Indicator Light
It can also come on by putting something light on the front seat or have a
passenger leaning forward. At least this happens if you have the side air bags. While the light is on your air bag system is disabled.
