Sticky Accelerator
the accelerator on my honda 2000EX seems to be sticky esp when i start my
car after a few hours of stop. lets say i m starting my car in the morning... i'll have to tap on my accelerator for it to be normal.. it just seems to stick. but once I tap it... its works fine for the rest of the drive. the same if happens if i leave a car for af few hours, then again the accelerator is stuck to its position. any one got any idea what this could be? thanks, -B |
Re: Sticky Accelerator
I think it is just a matter of oiling some part because my 2000LX
displays the exact same symptoms and each time I take it for service, I complain. They do something that fixes it for a few weeks. bc "check" <someone@somewhere.net> wrote in message news:<vtmnkgbftfgn07@corp.supernews.com>... > the accelerator on my honda 2000EX seems to be sticky esp when i start my > car after a few hours of stop. > > lets say i m starting my car in the morning... i'll have to tap on my > accelerator for it to be normal.. it just seems to stick. but once I tap > it... its works fine for the rest of the drive. the same if happens if i > leave a car for af few hours, then again the accelerator is stuck to its > position. > > any one got any idea what this could be? > > thanks, > > -B |

Re: Sticky Accelerator
My throttle cable was caked with dirt, i cleaned it as much as i could
then lubed it. Try moveing the throtle from under the hood and see if the cable is slow to retern although if it happens after a rest i would look at moveing parts on the throtle bodie. To make it last longer try a dry lube or a good synthetic oil. You might try asking them what is being done? Cant hurt. Thanks Randolph:
This is very very helpful, now alteast I know whta the problem is and also how to explain. I don't know if I can handle the solution myself, atleast the first time around, but anyhow I am taking my honda to the service center this weekend. I'll take the printout with me, so the guy knows exactly what I need hime to do.
