Straight Pipe - am I getting ripped off?
Hey, I took my 2000 Civic SiR in today to have a dealership look at a
squeaking sound when i first take off. Thought it was going to be just a heat shield (which I have had in the past) but turns out they tell me that there is a baffel in the straight pipe loose and that I need to replace the straight pipe at a cost of $526 Cad. Is this a good or bad price? Seems really high for just a pipe that runs from the Cat to my muffler.... with resignator included I suppose. thanks |
Re: Straight Pipe - am I getting ripped off?
IMHO, the price seems right. When I was looking for aftermarket parts
from a name brand for my 2000 Civic EX, it came out to be $1600-$2000 for the exhaust, pipe, cat converter and headers. So considering your model is a SiR and you're buying a Genuine Honda pipe from the dealership, the price seems right. -AGS |

If you want a better deal, visit several shops in your town that sell mufflers and get estimates. Before you sign the papers, check the quality of pipes to make sure they measure up to your expectations. -- NEWSGROUP SUBSCRIBERS MOTTO We respect those subscribers that ask for advice or provide advice. They don't list an SiR in their model choices. I don't know if the B Pipe for an Si will fit an SiR. You may want to give them a call. I should also note that their web site has been recently updated and isn't displaying the correct diagram for this parts category which is something else you might want to mention to them if you do call. Re: Straight Pipe - am I getting ripped off?
Thanks for all the info... and ya that site shows the clutch for the
diagram. :) whoops. The SiR in Canada is the same as the Si in the US.
