When it breaks, it will most likely ruin your valve train as well, since
that engine is an interference engine. So, replace it BEFORE it breaks!

Yep, it will definitely ruin the valves. With a bit of luck your piston
heads will need replacing as well.
Dependin on where you live, the timing belt should be replaced every
60-100k miles. My 94 Accord needed it every 60k miles because I live in
Toronto (hot summers, cold winters).
While replacing the timing belt, you should replace the water pump too.
