Tire replacement on 2003 CRV.

2003 EX 4WD, 12,650 miles.
Left rear tire went flat - a puncture in the sidewall. One service chap
said it couldn't be repaired and I needed a new tire. His colleague
said that I needed four new tires because they should all be replaced at
the same time because of the AWD feature (uneven wear on the tires might
cause the sensors to think 4WD was necessary when in fact it was not);
but they couldn't find any documentation from Honda to support that.
I bought one. The spare had been put on to replace the flat, they put
the new one on the right rear, and put the original right rear on the
back of the car as the spare.

Re: Tire replacement on 2003 CRV.

There's not enough wear on the 3 with 12k on them, that the new spare would
effect anything.

I take it that the tire with the puncture in the side wall is now your
spare, if so keep an eye on the air presure in the spare for a while to make
sure that its not leaking, and drive on!

The only time 4 wheel drive engages is when the front tires start to spin
such as in rain, snow or on ice.
