Towing '08 V-6 EX Accord
I know Honda Accord is one car that was towed behind motorhomes but the FMCA
says that towing the 08 flat on the ground will void the warranty and damage the transmission. I now tow a 2001 CR-V by simply putting the transmission into neutral after first shifting it into drive. I usually restart the car within 200 miles and go thru the gears for 2-3 minutes and then repeat the above described procedure. I have never had a problem. Is there a reason this can't be done with my 08 Accord? Is the transmission significantly different or is it just that Honda doesn't want to take responsibility if the transmission were to fail? Thanks for any assistance. Darl |

The auto tranny CR-V is towable, the auto tranny Accord not. The CR-V tranny /is/ different from the Accord. How I do not know. It may be that Honda is gun-shy after their '99-'02 automatic transmission disaster, and prohibits towing for that reason. -- Tegger The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |
