Where does one get a brake caliper slide pin boot for a 95 Integra/Civic?
 

Hi All

Sorry for the cross post here and in the accura newsgroup - it is just that
integras and civics are very similar and I am hoping you guys have an answer
for me.

Just did a rear brake job on my integra and noticed that the slide pin was
totally rusted solid to the bracket. I got it loose - it took some
persuading and was a character building exercise. :)

Just out of general principle, I'd like to replace the pin and the boot -- I
lubed it all up and will be ok for now, but imagine it will happen again..
The local dealer tells me that the boot does not have a part number -- it
comes only with a caliper. I did order a slide pin. I find this hard to
believe because boots do get old and brittle. One would imagine that if the
slide pin needs replacing, it most likely needs replacing because the boot
failed and junk got in. So it doesn't make sense that I can get one and not
the other.

Has anyone ever needed to replace a boot? If so, where did you get it?

brakes this past summer and found them (available individually) at
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ . (I subsequently changed my mind.)

I looked for them for your 1995 Civic, found them under the 3Dr SI (Item 21
in the drawing?) and 4 Dr LX ABS, but they don't seem to be sold
separately. Your dealer may be correct.

But maybe dig a little more at this site or email this company.

Just posting this as a follow up in case anyone ever needs to do this:
Go to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and look at the rear brake assembly
for a 93 SI -- item 21 is the boot and is for sale.

This site is just awesome. I used it to find the correct collars and
bushings for the rack and pinion on a 1992 Civic I am working on.....where'd
I get the info.......right here, and I think from Caroline!!

This site is just awesome. I used it to find the correct collars and
bushings for the rack and pinion on a 1992 Civic I am working on.....where'd
I get the info.......right here, and I think from Caroline!!

The drawings at the site below (Majestic Honda's site) are indeed
fantastic; a lot of folks here reference this site and I keep it
bookmarked; and Majestic's prices usually beat dealers' prices by a lot.
But other online Honda OEM companies are about. They seem to have really
taken off in the last two years. I am finding some of these other sites
have even better prices, especially after tacking on Majestic's kinda hefty
shipping and handling charges.

OTOH, because the drawings are so helpful to me, I am trying to give
Majestic my business at least once a year.

I know of only one other retail site whose parts drawings are as good as
Majestic's: www.slhonda.com
