2001 Honda S2000 - Rolling Thunder

Show cars have always had a presence at shows, street cars will always be just your plain old daily driven cars. But there are those rare moments where you will see a show car on the same ground you drive on. They might pass you, or they may even stop next to you and it will be the same reaction all around. "wow" is usually the word expressed, or a stoned stare at the car itself would be the most natural thing to do.

At this particular photoshoot Mike and I got the opportunity to shoot a car that had that show car appeal but was actually a daily driven one as well. Arthur Lu is the lucky owner of this beautifully built S2000. It was a cloudy day to start off with, and Mike and I had second thoughts about shooting the car on this day, but because we're always pushing back scheduled photoshoots we decided that today was a day we had to shoot, rain or shine. We here and Jtuned love to procrastinate if you didn't notice. We had arranged Arthur to meet at a parking structure around 2 o'clock. At around 2, I look over the walls of the parking structure and enjoy the view when I hear the roar of what sounds like a WRX with a really damn loud exhaust. I look over to the otherside to see where the noise was coming from and to my amazement I see the white S2000 coming towards the structure. Few minutes later Arthur pulls up, top down and all. I was thinking, damn its freezing and this guy has his top down. Only in California I thought to myself. Immediately I asked Arthur why was the car so loud? And his reply, "Top Secret" And me being the idiot that I am didn't get it, and I went about thinking "Man this guy really doesn't want people to know what he got." Mike and I went about taking photos while I sat down with Arthur talking about the car and what I would be writing about when his article was due. We went around the car and he pointed to the various parts he has and what function each performs. When we came to the exhaust, he pointed out that it was made by Top Secret. This rare exhaust isn't found much here in the states, and that is purely for 3 reasons. Number one being that it is too expensive, number two too loud, number three too expensive. One of a kind w/ this full titanium piping with a blazed muffler tip, Arthur claims that he can hold the entire system with his finger. The carbon fiber hood has a loud contrast with the white color car as well as the bride seats that scream red inside the cockpit. Assorted with all kind of goodies from various companies, the car is like a Super Autobacs only moving.

The reason why we called this shoot “Rolling Thunder” was not only for the “I-have-a-really-loud-car” factor but not many of the cars that have been on Jtuned have never had that “bumpin” factor. This car can bring some major music thunder while driving with its 2 10” subs, and now that may not be that much, and some of you might say that’s weak, but not in a little roadster like this. Keeping it at a even stance with all the weight in the rear, Arthur chose a Tein CS setup to hold it down. Arthur then thought, “I can’t be bumping without the bling blang wheels…” So the wheel of choice was the Diamond Cut Volk Racing GT-Ps. Anything more bling than these you might as well go chrome.

Weather it be on the canyons, track, or the streets of Brea, Arthur is definitely sure to be seen somewhere, but remember JTDC saw it first!
