04 elantra stereo wiring diagram

Hi,

Being the poor college student that I am...

Bought a stereo to replace the stock cassete player. Not much money so
I opted to ditch the wiring harness idea and not pay the ridiculous
amount of 20 bucks for one. With some ingenuity, figured it out.
Ground, battery, accesory.. hooked up. The rest was plug and chug...
only 8 speaker wires were left.. Everything works fine.. xcept.. it
doesn't keep the time or bass/treble settings etc...

Now, according to the diagram on the new stereo the yellow wire is to
the battery for contionous power. I tried disconnecting this wire and
even putting it to another wire.. the stereo did not turn on. From
this, I concluded that all of the 3 main wires (ground, battery and
acces.) were in the right place, otherwise the stereo did not turn on.

So, all of the wires from the back of the stereo were used, besides
one blue/white one with a cap on it for a power antenna. However, it
does not keep the time if the key is taken out of the ignition. There
are about 3 wires left on the original factory harness that were not
tied to anything on the new stereo.. My best educated guess is that
one of these wires provided the "always on" to the old/factory stereo
.. How, and once I find this wire.. Should it just be tied in with the
yellow battery wire? Or what?

Would a wiring diagram help? and if so where can i get my hands on
one..

Much appreciated.

Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/default.asp and bookmark the
page. WebTech is a very useful resource.
- Enter your can info and select Shop to get to the shop manual.
- Select Body Electrical System.
- Select Audio and Antenna.
- Select Audio System.
- Select the second Components listing. It contains wiring harness
diagrams for four different systems.

BTW, WebTech only works with Internet Explorer.

Even better, select ETM instead of shop. This has all the schematics.

I checked it out and there is no info for any of the '04 models, only
'03 and older. Bummer!
