1995 Elantra Timing Belt
Anyone ever replace a 1995 Elantra timing belt?
How do you get the lower cover off? Removing the engine mount doesn't seem to tbe an option. |

Check out http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/ for the shop manual for this car. It doesn't specifically say anything about removing the engine mount to replace the timing belt but I know on a later model Sonata to replace the timing belt the front mount if removed after the engine is supported to get the belt off and back on. Good Luck |

Re: 1995 Elantra Timing Belt
You must remove the engine mount by the left fender. It's the only option.
And then it's still very tight. |
Re: 1995 Elantra Timing Belt
I think you are right. Problem is the nut on the left fender/engine
firewall side won't budge. I tried all the customary methods. It doesn't seem to be rust -it's just really tight. Mount will swing up enough to clear the timing belt cover. It's a pain to take the pulleys off while the mount is installed, but I'm going to try. |
