1998 Accent tranny probs. PLEASE HELP!
Hello, Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Zofia. I own a 199 Hyundai Accent. Automatic Transmission. I am having problems with tak off and also there is some harsh jerking at different times and speeds First the take off is sluggish. I have tried to start out in low the 2nd then drive. No matter what, it still does the same thing. I jus don't want to move. Like as if there isn't any power. I have even trie to manually downshift while coming to a stop to sort of tell the ca that its time to do so. Still nothing. We have replaced the fue filter, the spark plug wires, check the plugs, they are firing. W cleaned the fuel system. We cleaned the injectors. Still nothing. Too the car to Auto Zone and had them read the codes. They say that the # and 4 cylinders are misfiring, and that there is also random multipl cylinder misfiring. It says that the #2 and 3 gear ratio's ar incorrect. And was told that the speed sensor was bad. We replaced th speed sensor, was told that this may fix the gear ratio problems...bu it hasnt.. it only fixed the speed sensor. (wetook it back to auto zon to read the codes again, and it no longer showed up.) Ok the transmission probs. While driving the transmission doesnt slip but, it jerks real hard and the whole rear of the car lifts up and th back tires squeal real loud. I had a friend follow me the other day an she told me she could actually see the rear of the car lift up. It feel like the trans is going to jerk right on out!! Like as if someon slammed the car into a low gear or even reverse while going forward i drive. VERY SCARY!! We changed the trans fluid, gasket, and filter. N change. someone told us this may be related to the fuel but as you se above, we tried different things with no result. Can somebody PLEAS save me the money its going to cost at the dealership just to diagnos the car? We are disabled and cannot afford to pay high repair bills le alone a high diagnostic bill. The Hyundai mechanic says he cant tell m what the problem is without a diagnostic. But I am hoping that someon out there has had the same experience as I and could tell me where t go from here? Thanks for reading my post.. Please save my car from the scrap yard, I love my car. I really don want to have to junk it. :( :( : -- LoveLite14 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- LoveLite143's Profile: http://www.usenetcars.com/member.php?userid=327 View this thread: http://www.usenetcars.com/showthread.php?t=55717 |

Sounds like the rear brakes are stuck on. -- http://members.iinet.net.au/~farmerjim/log/log.html It's boring but it's something. |
Re: 1998 Accent tranny probs. PLEASE HELP!
It doesn't sound good. First off, it sounds like you have an engine
performance problem combined with a transmission issue. You should probably take it somewhere competent and trustworthy for a diagnosis and estimate for repair. If you need a transmission like I suspect you may, the price of a reman unit or overhauling the one already in your vehicle will probably be more than the value of the vehicle. |
