2000 Elantra Misfire
Misfire in cylinder #1 with a blinking check engine light. TSB points to
fuel injector problem (all injectors click). I did the spark plugs & cable routine with no luck. Going to switch the ingnition coil pairs around in an attempt to diagnose (#1 doesn't seem to jump as high as the others). Will also remove and acetone clean injectors as well as leak-down test the cyclinder. Is there anything else I should do? |
Re: 2000 Elantra Misfire
#1 problem is the plug wires. Pull all the wires off the plugs and just
set them back on. Start the car. Then gradually pull #1 up and off. I'm betting you see a blue spark to the spark plug tube through the wire's plastic. You can do the same for the other cylinders. This always seems to work to find a bad plug wire when I can't see the carbon on the plastic. Usually when this happens, there's a small pinhole. If you're outside the warranty, replace the entire set. The new ones seem to have a different plastic composition. |
Re: 2000 Elantra Misfire
Thanks, I had already replaced the spark plug cables.
Changed the oil and went to a lower viscosity. So far, no more blinking light. I'll be suprised if this is the answer though. |
