2000 Elantra Radio
 

So, I had my 2000 Elantra in for a bunch of service, and I decided to toss
in a true Kenwood CD radio with Sirrius.. NEWAY.... After breaking my
whole heating system up, the shop tells me they couldn't find 'the
bracket' for my radio...

What's up with that? How hard is it to find these things?

Apparently harder than your inept mechanic thought it would be. I
would never rip my dash apart for a new radio install unless I had a
wiring harness and install kit handy. In some cases for 'normal'
vehicles with 'normal' radio installations you don't have to have an
install kit, just a wiring harness. And even then, you don't HAVE to
use an adapter harness if you are willing to splice right into the
factory wiring(read: Doable, but not recommended)

The shop should have checked on the availability of an install kit for
your specific application -before- they opened up your dash. I'd
complain and get a refund. And make them reassemble the dash.
