2001 Sonata CD player
A friend just told me that her '01 Sonata's CD player has quit
working. It will read track 1 and you push play and it will display Er6 and reject the CD. She bought the car at a local Toyota dealership which is no longer here. One local electronics shop said flat out they won't work on it and recommended another, who won't return her call, so they obviously don't want to do it either. She's tried many CD's and a cleaner, nothing changes anything. Are independent shops unlikely to work on these? The nearest Hyundai shop is over an hour away. Or does anyone know any tricks that might jump start the thing into working again? Is Er6 just a generic code or does it actually indicate something specific? |

buy a new CD stereo, it comes with a harness adapter to make it a 100% plug-in installation. Reuse the factory brackets from the original radio. Enjoy a new and better sounding stereo for less than a repaired old one "James Goforth" <jamiegoforth@webtv.net> wrote in message news:4125-41B7423A-41@storefull-3276.bay.webtv.net... > A friend just told me that her '01 Sonata's CD player has quit > working. > It will read track 1 and you push play and it will display Er6 and > reject the CD. > She bought the car at a local Toyota dealership which is no longer > here. > One local electronics shop said flat out they won't work on it and > recommended another, who won't return her call, so they obviously don't > want to do it either. > She's tried many CD's and a cleaner, nothing changes anything. > Are independent shops unlikely to work on these? Re: 2001 Sonata CD player
Your cd player's dead. And what's worse, the warranty on the radio is only
3 years/36k miles, so it's probably out of warranty now. I'm Right has the correct idea. No one wants to work on these things and a factory reman is insanely expensive. Find a quality aftermarket replacement and make sure it gets a quality installation as well. |

That would be the cheapest way and would preserve the factory look. Harry |
