2001 sonata speedometer
does anyone know how to take apart the dash? I need to replace the
speedometer/odometer assembly thanks |
Re: 2001 sonata speedometer
There should be 2-3 phillips screws holding in the trim cover for the
cluster. After you have the trim off, there are four phillips screws holding in the cluster. |
Re: 2001 sonata speedometer
Thanks, is it easy to remover the speedometer/odometer assembly? also, is
there a way to set the odometer to the original reading? Re: 2001 sonata speedometer
It's pretty easy. The mileage may be able to be burned in, but you'll have
to find a speedo repair shop to do it and you'll need the old speedo as actual evidence of what the mileage was. |

BURNED IN? This odo is of the mechanical nature, it's not digital
just wondering if anyone had any experience with replacement of the spedo/odo assemblies and if it is a difficult task? The clear plastic cover and the black plastic base both have push tabs that are used to assemble them. You should have a helper, and push down on each of the tabs for the black plastic base cover at the same time and pull it off. There are a few screws on the rear (two for the tach) that you unscrew and the unit lifts out the front of the case. Harry |
Re: 2001 sonata speedometer
I thought 2001 had the digital odometers. I'm not sure anyone will touch a
used one to set it. The ones from the factory come set to 1 mile (I guess they test them). |
