2004 Sante Fe noise

I just got a 2004 Sante Fe. Afeter putting 1200 miles I noticed a clunk
noise when turning while backing up. Also the gas pedal seems sensitive.
When I place my foot on it accelerates or surges. Is this normal for this
vehicle? Its a 3.5 AWD vehicle.
Thanks
Bob

Re: 2004 Sante Fe noise

On 2004 Santa Fes produced prior to 12/15/03, the 4wd may bind when backing
and turning. See transmission tsb
04-40-003 in www.hmaservice.com.

The sensitive gas pedal is "normal." Your vehicle has an electronic
throttle. The dealer will be unable to make any changes to how this
system operates unless Hyundai releases them to the dealer.

I've been driving my SF for about 20k miles and still haven't gotten used to
that.

I have a 2004 LX and had the clunk too. Had the 4WD electronic control
module replaced and that fixed it. TSB#04-40-003.

Bill:
These problems only exist on the 3.5L Santa Fes. The 2.7 doesn't
have electronic throttle. You also don't have 4wd, so you won't have
binding issues.

They updated the ECM or TCM program for this, so if you feel the throttle is
too sensitive, take your car to a Hyundai dealer to have the computer module
reprogrammed.
