2008 Elantra Jump Start

Hello.
Is jump starting a no no on this car? A co-worker offered her Elantra to
jump start the dead battery in my truck. The cables were connected
correctly. I checked them twice, and my truck started immediately. When the
co-worker tried to back away, the car acted as if it was in neutral. Drive
was fine. The gear indicator showed both reverse AND third. With an engine
stop and restart, reverse was fine. When she activated the cruise control,
the problem returned. Stop and start fixed it again. Now they called to say
that the engine light is on, the reverse problem returned, and a symbol
indicating ignition trouble is lit. I don't have the car here, so that is
about all I know at this time. What is going on here. Thanks.

Sounds like there's maybe a problem with the range switch or a fuse is
blown. If the cables were never hooked up incorrectly, the jump start
should be unrelated to this problem.
