For 2009 Hyundai: Powertrain Is Covered For How Long ?
Recently I rode in a 2008 Sonata courtesy car, and was mainly
impressed by its XM-Sirius radio, which I recall discussing/ requesting here several years ago: Does the now merged XM-Sirius subsidize/incentivize the car companies to make the radio available, so that the buyer may subsequently decide or not to subscibe at $13 a month (I think) or however. Once I listened to those outrageous comedy channels and saw some of the many other choices I was hooked--wow. Meanwhile, here is something that confuses me currently about the Hyundai value packed "sleepers" Some (or just me) have been under an tv ad marketing impression that the powertrain on Hyundais is covered up to one hundred thousand miles. What is the limit? Sixty-thousand miles? One hundred thousand miles? A one hundred thousand miles "bumper to bumper" extended serice contract does NOT cover the powertrain up to 100,000 miles. True or False. Hyundai needs to make its power train and bumper to bumper coverage limits clear in large letters & numbers and in non-legalistic jargon |

Covers repair or replacement of powertrain components (i.e. selected Engine and Transmission/Transaxle components), originally manufactured or installed by Hyundai that are defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. Coverage applies to Original Owner only effective with 2004 Model Year and newer model year vehicles. On 1999-2003 Model Years, coverage applies to Original Owner and immediate family members (i.e. wife, husband, daughter, son, stepdaughter, stepson). Second and/or subsequent owners have powertrain components coverage under the 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Excludes coverage for vehicles in commercial use (i.e. taxi, route delivery, delivery service, rental, etc.). |

Re: For 2009 Hyundai: Powertrain Is Covered For How Long ?
For 2007 to 2009 model years:
Adjustments-- 1 year/12k miles Bumper-to-bumper-- 5 years/60k miles Powertrain-- 10 years/100k miles Radio, headlamp bulbs-- 3 years/36k miles. Just discovered the headlamp bulb thing the other day. Apparently the coverage reduction (was 5/60) started in the 2007 model year. Because the powertrain coverage is 10/100, a Hyundai 10/100 extended warranty won't cover powertrain items-- they're already covered under the factory warranty. Of course, aftermarket extended warranties probably include this coverage, but you'll never be able to use it. The warranty company will be smart enough to point out that it's still under factory warranty. -- Message posted using http://www.talkaboutautos.com/group/alt.autos.hyundai/ More information at http://www.talkaboutautos.com/faq.html |
