99 Accent - Wipers Won't Work

The winshield wipers on my wife's Accent stopped working yesterday. I
looked on the net for some info and they said if their was no noise when I
tried to turn them on than it was probably a bad fuse. What I couldn't find
was how to check or change the fuse. Any ideas?

I had a problem with the wipers on my 2002 elantra. They slowed down and
then stopped half way through their cycle and then wouldn't work after
that.

I had to replace the wiper motor and linkage for about $500cdn :-/

At that cost, I would certainly try a wrecking yard first...

You'll need to open the fuse box (left side under dash) and read the labels
on the fuses. There's also a fuse box under the hood, I believe. To check
the fuse, pull it out and see if there is a "wire" inside connecting the
two blades. If the fuse is blown, the wire will have burned.

Also check your wiper arm nuts to be sure they're tight. Turning on
wipers when the windshield is covered with snow/ice tends to make them
come loose.

wiper fuse is the bottom left one in the fuse panel behind the door in
the left kick panel. 15 A. It seems there is also a bimetallic
themal overlaod from the way mine behaves. I had a problem with ice
buildup keeping the wipers from going all the way home. Cooked off a
couple of fuses and had the wiper going a little intermittently in the
process of finding this. The last move was to change the fuse, clear
the ice and it would not work but the wipers wnet all the way home.
Wet in and came out later and tried wipers and they have worked fine
since.

I think there's a circuit breaker in the motor.
