Blowing 60amp Fuses

Well, I have been having problems with this 1995 Accent lately, and Im
almost down to the last problem..lol

Now I have blown the 60amo alt fuse again. I have replaced the Alt, and
the starter now, cause these both were junk. What Im trying to find out
that the car book doesn't say, is what does this fuse power up? Does it
just go to the fuse pannel inside the car? IF its blowing a fuse, Im
th8inking something is shorting out, but I have no clue where to start.

If it were my car, I'd jump the fuse with a piece of 8 gauge copper and
watch for smoke. Yes, I'm serious.

Since it's not my car, I can't recommend you do that.

Hyundai WebTech should have the electrical diagrams for your car. Find
the fuse and trace the wiring.

Re: Blowing 60amp Fuses

This is the main fuse. If I recall correctly, nothing works when it's
blown. I think everything goes through the fuse except the main starter
wire. The largest reason this fuse blows is the car being jump-started
with the cables hooked up backward. If the alternator produces more than
60A, it could blow the fuse. Is 60A the proper size for this fuse? Could
you have pinched the alternator wire to ground somewhere? Could you have
overtightened the stud, broken the ceramic, and made a short on the
alternator? Is the eyelet touching ground anywhere (including the
alternator body)? Does the fuse blow with the car off?
