brake squeal

I had new pads installed and the rotors resurfaced on the front. It did
not make any noise for a day or two afterwards. They are now squealing when
I stop. I took it back and they said they could not find anything wrong and
it should stop making the noise after they wear down a bit. What's the odds
of that happening? Has anyone had the squealing to stop?

Re: brake squeal

I understand most modern cars have an anti-squeal pad between brake pad and
piston. Do Hyundais have them and have they been reinstalled?.On the old
VW,s I resurrect they are extremely hard to get but you can get away with a
film of silicon adhesive between the two. Let it harden before you drive and
no problems.

Re: brake squeal

Chances of the noise going away are very small. Doesn't mean there's
anything wrong, just that the brakes make noise and are annoying.
Could be due to pad composition or missing shims as John alluded.
Depending on model, new factory pads come with shims, but I've no idea
what was actually put on your car.
