Excel fuel gauge

I have a '94 excel and everytime I fill the fueltank, the fuel gauge tells
me that tank is 3/4 full. I am sure I filled the whole tank, but it keeps
telling me it is not full? Any ideas?

Re: Excel fuel gauge

I checked the fuel gauge sender unit and I measured values from 7 to 70
ohm. Is this normal for this type of car?

Re: Excel fuel gauge

Sorry, wrong measurement. it is 25 to 125 ohm

Re: Excel fuel gauge

If I recall correctly, this was a "from the factory" issue and Hyundai
issued a TSB about installing a shunt resistor to normalize the gauge.

Re: Excel fuel gauge

Do you also have the TSB number?

Re: Excel fuel gauge

I wasn't somewhere I could access the tsb database yesterday. I looked
today and couldn't find anything. Nor do I see any specs in the online
manual. Sorry.

Which online manual if I may ask?

Re: Excel fuel gauge

I use www.hmaservice.com. I have access to some areas the general public
doesn't, but you can access almost all of the technical service bulletins
by selecting "Web Tech".
