Geico insurance

Has anyone used Geico insurance? Have you heard anything about them? Today
I switched to them, becasue I needed to get car insurance fast (long
story, but my parents dropped me from their policy) They seemed
reasonable, 628 for 6 months ( i am 23 with a 2002 accent), which is less
then i was actually paying while on my parents insurance, and i have the
same coverage. They told me that I get a preferred policy, becasue i am a
state goverment employee. I signed up for 6 months, and in that time I
will shop around to see what I can get. Thanks for all input

Re: Geico insurance

I've not had Geico, but several of my relatives have and my father still
does. They seem to be quick to drop drivers if their driving records are
bad even though there may have been no accidents. My brother was excluded
from my father's policy about 30 years ago, and still remains excluded
today. My sister had an issue with Geico not paying what she thought her
car was worth after an accident caused by a driver with Geico insurance,
but I'm not sure whose judgment on the value of the car was most skewed.
Make of this what you will.

I've had Allstate insurance since I've been on my own policy and I'm very
happy with cost and service. I pay about $350 for 6 months with
significantly more than minimum liability only insurance. I'm 36 and
drive a 1992 Taurus.

You can do much better than GEICO if you shop around, but giving you a
price is next to useless. The price means nothing without knowing
your driving record, the model of the Accent and its sundry safety
items, and, maybe most importantly, where you live.

I check around every year when my Allstate policy expires.
Geico has always been around 15% higher than Allstate.
Much depends on a lot of factors, including where you live.
I pay $1000 per year for my old 92 Grand Am.

Re: Geico insurance

allfirst quoted me 1300 for 3 months, which is only 200 more then what AIG
gave me. Progressive, was about the same as geicco. I get screwed becasue
I still need full coverage, as there is a lean on my car, and I am only
23and have had 1 not at fault accident in the last year and 1 running a
stop light 2 years ago

Re: Geico insurance

Geico often raises rates after your 1st year and says t is due to "losses"
of some sort. When they wanted to up my prems by 25% and I had no changes
or citations, that was pure crap.

Other factors Ins Companies consider, Age, Location, Vehicle, and your
Credit Rating!

If you want the best rate, check the following. www.esurance.com . I
currently have coverage with them and they saved me lots off of the next
lowest I found They are "A" rated by am best and I found their claims
process easy when I was hit by an un-insured A??hole only 3 months afer
joining them
After their quote, call Any insurance agent in your area who will be able
to search a variety of companies to find one that best fits your needs.

I found out about Esurance from www.lowermybills.com Great site for about
anything you are paying on.

Good Luck!

If they're in your area, another good company is AMICA. I've found their
rates to be the lowest around (NH) and their service is exemplary. Don't
forget that you'll get a dividend back at the end of the year that's
typically 10-20%.

The company that is hard to beat is USAA. Unfortunately, you have to
be involved with the military in some form to use them.

I haven't signed up with them even though they can lower my premiums a
little. I am willing to pay for having a local agent; USAA does not
have offices all over the US.

Re: Geico insurance

I just called AMICA and was denied becasue I had 1 red light violation in
the last 3 years, so maybe in two years I can call them back

a friend used them, and had a wreck, his fault....

he filed under his collision, they totalled his car, and then offered him a
very nice check, more than what he or I thought his car was worth.

problem was it took them 7-8 weeks to get the checkto him, and they wanted
to stop payment on his rental car before paying him for his car.

That's pretty bizarre! In the time I've had them, I've gotten at least 3
tickets and have even totalled a car, but they've never said anything
about it. I also have homeowners and boat (4 kayaks) insurance through
them, but haven't made any claims on those policies.

I rquested a quote a year ago for my 03 Sonata LX. They wanted more
for 6 months than I pay AAA Mid-Atlantic for an entire year.

Mercury is another one to try. A rated and they say they are lower priced
than about anyone.

Re: Geico insurance

If you're a Costco member, or even if you're not, get a membership, it's
worth it for things like this, try them. I had Progressive for like four
years straight before I bought my '03 Tiburon, and they wanted $1250 for six
months. I went to Costco.com and got a quote off there for $300 for six
months with BETTER coverages! pffft I then totalled that Tiburon a year
and a half later and bought a '04 Santa Fe, my rate went up $35, but I also
added rental insurance this time. And the whole process after I wrecked my
Tiburon was awesome. They helped me with everything and even protected my
car from these a'hole towing guys who wouldn't let me get my aftermarket
stereo from it. They picked the car up within 12 hours and moved it
somewhere where I could go and get whatever I wanted off the car. lol
They had no problem with it. They paid me what was market value according
to Edmunds and others.

The actual insurance company Costco uses is American Express Property and
Casualty, but I think if you're a Costco member you get better rates than if
you weren't. Also, if you're a Executive Costco member, they throw in a few
extras that don't cost you anything more. ;)
