Getting to 2000 Sonata door switch wiring?
 

In my continuing quest to find a lights-on warning buzzer for our 2000
Sonata GLS (a feature BTW that my '75 AMC Hornet came with standard),
I found the following interesting simple circuit:

Looks like it will do the job and is simple to wire in. (You could
even get a little fancier by putting in a relay that will only let the
alarm go off when the ignition is off, but that's probably not
needed.) I figure I can probably find a wire under the dash that is
+12V when the exterior lights are on. But it looks like to get at the
wiring for the drivers' door switch I need to remove the interior trim
panel on the center pillar, and don't see an obvious way to do this.

Anyone know how to remove this trim, or maybe if this wire comes out
somewhere under the dashboard where I can tie into it?

If you pull up the sill plates and pull the weatherstripping away, you
should be able to pull the pillar trim loose. If I recall correctly, it
just snaps on.

Thanks! I found that pulling the pillar trim off as you described
above was the easiest way to go. The wiring under the dash is a rat's
nest and the junction blocks don't seem to be labeled in any noticable
way. It was a little bit of a pain dealing with all the trim snaps,
but not too bad.

I tapped directly into the thin blue wire coming out of the door
switch connector, and the warning buzzer works great! This should make
the wife happy, she loves the car overall but has been consistently
carping about the lack of an automatic shutoff or warning for the
exterior lights since we purchased this vehicle. Thanks very much for
