How to detect worn constant-velocity joints?

I was told that constant-velocity joints start making noise when the
car tunrs; when the wear increases they make noise even when the car
runs straight.

Could you give tips that allow to detect which one of these is worn?

Thank you very much in advance.

Re: How to detect worn constant-velocity joints?

When worn, CV joints make a loud clicking noise, mostly on acceleration on
sharp turns. It's nearly always the outer joint. To determine which
side, it's a simple matter of detemining which side of the car the noise
is originating from. If you cannot tell when driving, you'll need an
assistant to stand outside the car while you make the noise.
