Hyundai exterior paint
 

Hi,

My wife and I just purchased a Sonata yesterday. Near the end of the
paperwork, the Finance manager tried to sell us on a coating to protect the
car's paint. I declined the offer because I thought it was expensive ($400
USD), and I've never had car paint issues before. (I've only owned Honda's
and older used American built cars before)

Is the coating really necessary on Hyundai's? Has anyone here experienced
paint peeling/chipping? If the coating is a good idea, can you recomend a
national (U.S.) chain that offers it (e.g. Maaco?) What do they charge?

You did good to reject the $400 "coating". Spend $10 on some good wax and
keep the other $390. Or have a detailer wax it for you ~ $100.

The coating is not necessary on any car. It is just a profit builder
for the dealer.

Don't fall for this scam. Especially don't if they use any threats such as
your warranty is invalid without the
ripoff-do-nothing-and-sometimes-cause-problems coating.
