Better buy a REAL AMERICAN car and support our economy!

Many foreign cars are built in North America, thus we're supporting the
local economy. Plus, don't get me started with the gas prices.... :)

I was a firm believer in buying only American cars my whole life. But
after my last 3 new cars, I will never buy a domestic car again. To be
honest, I can't afford to. Between the higher sticker price and the
major repairs for all 3 of these cars, I will only buy a vehicle with
the best warranty/price. This time it was a Hyundai. My 2000 Saturn
needed, in order, an alternator, new strut supports, two AC
compressors, major electrical work and a starter. It all came to over
$2500 and this was with less than 60,000 miles. Plus, the price for it
(even back in Sept. of '99) was over $4000 more than the 2004 Sonata
(nicely loaded). Of course, none of these items were covered under any
warranty, since it was only 3 year 36,000 miles.

My Buick before that needed a new motor for the electric window, 2
motors for the power seats and the final straw was the tranny going
out at 70,000 even though I followed all the maintenance. Again,
nothing covered under any warranty. Another $1800 spent.

I won't even bother listing all the problems my Dodge had. I'll just
say I vowed never to buy another Chrysler product again.

I want to do what's right for the American economy, but I have to look
out for my own pocketbook first.

I have had my Hyundai Sante Fe for a year and a half now and love it!
Before it I had a Nissan and had had such bad experiences with American cars
that I checked it's ID# before buying it to make sure it was NOT built in
America.
P.S. the Nissan was a great car too.

You're right, young Master Raab is probably beyond attitude
adjustment. Google is the real problem here.

Perhaps a Humvee, Get a real tax break for using more fuel on this one from
the two oilmen in power.)GMC Denali, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator,
Chevrolet Suburban, or Ford Expedition.

Those pieces of American entertrise, driven by men with small penises, and
insecure housewives are the reason gasoline is high again, and oil is
$52.00 a barrel.

If they would produce quality and economy in an affordable package, I'd
switch back in a minute.

I had a Chrysler/Dodge 95 Neon prior to my 03 Sonata (assembled in
Canada.) The first thing it did after I bought it was lose an oil
seal, leaving a trail of oil everywhere I went. Then the turn signal
broke, then I started noticing weird electrical problems --sometimes
the clock and radio wouldn't work. And the windshield would never
clear in the winter time.

Right at warrantee expiry, the air conditioner died, and then it
developed an oil leak of another sort that left a mess everywhere I
parked, and the muffler developed a "hole" leading to a lot of noise,
and the brakes went. what a piece of crap. I was happy to get it off
my driveway.

Jack

Apart from some dash rattle and some transmission weirdness, I haven't
had any problems with my Sonata after one year's use.

I can never remember if I'm supposed to post on top or on the bottom,
so here goes.

I'm reading this thread, and thinking about my 2001 Hyundai Accent.
The first new car I had ever bought, and the first car that I've owned
in probably twenty years.

The bottom line is reading this thread has made me glad that I bought
the car I did. Coming up on 73,000 miles and the thing starts and runs
the same as the first day I owned it.
