ignition key removal

my 1993 sonata , you cannot remove the ignition key without taking off the
positive lead off the battery, i have replaced the key lock and pigtail on
the end of ignition switch, ive also bypassed the micro switch on the gear
selector to no avail, also replaced the 20 and 60 amp fuses on the
positive lead to the battery, hope someone can help, thanks Phil

Re: ignition key removal

Check the gearshift pin to be sure it's not bent and contacting the switch
properly. Check the schematics on www.hmaservice.com and verify you have
proper power and ground to the Key Lock and Control unit. You may need a
new Key Lock and Control unit.

These transmissions weren't the most reliable. You should check the fluid.
If okay, you'll probably need a transmission. It'll be a good idea to
have this checked to be sure there isn't some sensor issue, but the most
frequent problems by far are internal.
