Jiffy Lube??? 2000 Hyundai Sonata
Had the oil change and fuel injection system cleaned, per maintance
schedual. The check engine light is on. How long or should this light be on? Thanks! |
Re: Jiffy Lube??? 2000 Hyundai Sonata
First off.. make sure your gas cap is tight.
It can cause a check engine light as the fuel system is under pressure when running.. and if that cap it not tight it tells the emmissions system about it. It should go out after the cap is tightened in a little driving. Since it is a 2000, take it to your dealer under warranty otherwise! This light shouldn't be on unless there was a problem. Was it on prior to
taking your car to Jiffy Lube? Was it on when Jiffy Lube delivered the car back to you? |

Re: Jiffy Lube??? 2000 Hyundai Sonata
Loosened crap coming out? B.S. The real story is that they hook a
cleaning agent into the fuel supply and turn off the fuel pump. They then run the car on the cleaning agent. When the cleaning agent runs out, the car misfires. This may cause a check engine lamp on 96 and newer vehicles. Doing a complete job means turning the lamp out when done. I suspect this story was given because the shop didn't have a tool to check the codes and erase them. |

Its still on. |
Re: Jiffy Lube??? 2000 Hyundai Sonata
It'll probably take 2-3 drive cycles (cold to normal operating temp.) This
will probably take a few days to accomplish since it won't cool down enough in just a few hours. If you want, you could harass Jiffy Lube and ask them to pay for you to take it in and have the lamp turned off if the shop diagnosing it finds that the lamp is consistent with the servicing that Jiffy Lube did. Or perhaps you should offer them the opportunity to turn it off themselves. You could probably turn it out by removing the negative battery cable, but this will prevent you from actually reading the code and making a determination as to the problem. |
