Jiffylube over filled my 2004 sonata HELP!!

Help... OK here it goes. Yesterday I pulled my 2004 sonata with 7800
miles on it out of a parking space and saw a small puddle of oil.
Believed it was from the filter . I had the oil changed at jiffy lute
about 8 weeks ago. I took it back to a jiffy lube in the area I was
traveling in massacusets. Yes the filter was leaking. The filter was
tight and leaking. They also found the oil level about 1.5 quarts to
high. They changed the filter and droped the level.
The car was running fine before and after the removal of the extra
oil. Did the extra 1.5 qts damage the moter that is the question. Jiffy
lube in mass did a write up of what they found. Today I spoke to the
shop that did the oil change and he told me to call corprate. No sure
what to do . Could the moter been damage ?

Thanks

Your motor wasn't hurt by adding a quart and a half too much oil.

This is most likely the case, as long as seals were not damaged.

I would never take a car to any of these Jiffy-Lube type places. I
remember some years ago a friend of mine took her Subaru to Jiffy-Lube
for an oil change. The "service technician" proceeded to drain the
automatic transmission and dump an additional 4 quarts of oil into the
engine! (Needless to say she did not get very far and after much
fighting and threatening of lawsuits they paid for the repairs.)

We take our Sonata to the dealer for oil changes, the price is
competive with Jiffy Lube and they also check for any recalls or
computer updates the car might need. (I do the oil changes myself on
our other vehicles.)

I once took a car to Jiffy Lube, and with the numerous shouting out of
commands at the same time from the people in the pit, they got thier
signals crossed and accidentally started up my engine without any oil in
it...luckily for only 3 seconds. No damage occured. If youre going to
take it to such a place, be sure and watch them and your car closely.

Or better yet. Don't go there at all...just too many horror stories.

Exactly. Don't go to Jiffy Lube. First thing they did when checking my
air cleaner is throw away the screws that hold it's cover down so they
don't have to replace them and won't be bothered by them next time. Then
they always claim battery is "sealed" on the receipt even if it's not so
they don't have to check or fill it (I have 5 jiffy lube receipts saying
battery is "sealed" and it's not, it ran dry and ruined it, they won't
do anything about it, they say it would have gone bad anyway.) I called
their corporate office to complain and all they'd do is give me $10 off
my next oil change so it would be $10 cheaper to get ripped off next
time.(If I was stupid enough to go back).

Jiffylube stripped my drain hole. New pan costs $400.

I can't take time off work to take them to court.

Call Corp and talk to them. I hope you have a copy of ALL receipts for
the two Jiffy lub places and the repair cost (itemize) and a copy of
the Mass write-up. Corp customer service should want you to mail all
copies to them (save origins or at least a good copy). Let us know how
you make out. ed

A local company, Lube Stop stripped the pan on my 2001 Elantra, but
paid for the tow and replacement pan.
