Kitcars?
Howdy folks, I've been out of the Car world a while, a MiniVanner ;-)
Anyway As if I have the time I don't but still curious about , I remember back when you could buy body kits for VW's and Fiero's and other inexpensive cars and make a mechanically sound car with a hideous body look like a new car by replacing the body and interior. Are there any Companies making Kit's/Replacement Bodies for Hyundai's? All I see in mags like Import Tuner are addon pieces, or am I not looking hard enough? I wouldn't mind finding an early 90's Elantra and maybe spening a few $$$ on a new body and seats and make it look rather nice then add another few $$$ ;-) for a Paintjob eh. Am I Crazy to think of doing something like this? I mean there's TONNS of old imports out there who's body may not look so great anymore but there Engine and Tranny are still good. A Nice new Fiberglass Body ontop SEEMS to me a good idea. |
Re: Kitcars?
I haven't seen any. It's probably because Hyundai vehicles (with the
exception of the top few vehicles) are so damn cheap that it's not worth the cash to restore one. The people who can afford the higher-end models don't tend to keep them long enough for them to fall apart. For info purposes I am the worlds worse mechanic but even I was able to replace the transmission in one of my 92s and there are plenty of parts available . Just sometimes you have to look under a Mitsubishi part number for them . The older ones actually look pretty nice with minor body mods So find one in the 92 -94 mod year range and see what you can come up with . Mad Moe madmoe1.nospam@cco.net |
