Low fuel warning light
 

How much of a "reserve" remains when the low fuel warning light on a 2003
Accent comes on? All the owner's manual says is that the light will come on
when it is near empty. I'm not in the habit of letting my fuel get low
enough that that should ever happen, but it would be nice to know how close
to empty the tank is at that point.

In mine it still had at least a couple gallons; I thought it came on
a bit early.

On my Elantra 2003 I once drove around 40 miles after the light came on (and didn't run out), so there was at least a gallon and a half left.

I suspect you're about right. I ran the Accent until I the light came on
while going downhill, but not on the level. I was then able to squeeze 10
gallons US into the 11.9 gallon tank. I don't know how much of the remaining
1.9 gallons would actually be usable, but it shouldn't be a concern in city
driving. (Just don't try it between Green River, Utah and Salina, Utah. That
stretch logs about 105 miles between gas stations!)

Offtopic here..

Is that worse then I80 out of Salt Lake into into Nevada? I did that
trip years ago in my Mustang when traveling across the country. It was
around the time people were returning from Sturgis. I stopped at a gas
station just before the long stretch and it was filled with HUNDREDS of
Harleys. I decided not to wait and risk trying to wiggle my way through
them to get to the pump of the small gas station. I made it to a gas
station in Nevada but it was close. I went back a few miles into Utah
to get a good look at the salt flats after eventually filling up though.
I still have the picture of my Mustang sitting on a section of the
salt flats.
