New 99 Sonata Keyless entry question
Hello again.
Ok I've confirmed that I have a keyless entry module still wired under the dash (thank you hyundaitech). I read TSB 99-90-011 (install, operation, and programing for 99 sonata keyless entry system) and TSB 01-90-011(programing Hyundai security systems). TSB 01-90-011 says I should get an audio sound between "flicks" of the of the valet switch, but I don't get any sound (I touch the black and which together to simulate the valet switch per TSB 99-90-011---99-90-011 doesn't say anything about getting audio sounds between flicks of the valet switch. Should I get sound between flicks of the black and white wires together? Next I called the dealer for a price on keyless remotes he told me $45 each I asked him the PN he gave me: 00265-11002. I told him I had PN (from the TSB): 00243-16110... He said they had those in stock but they had problems with those modules so they changed to the 00265-11002. The remote, or the whole unit? As I said before in a previous post the old owners never had a problem, I don't see any TSB saying anything about a problem with the old units, and I even called another Hyundai dealer and asked them about it. Why would the dealer not want to give me the keyless remotes that were turned in with the trade in (like the previous owners told me they were) instead of giving me a story about problems with the unit, so instead of selling me a problem, they just took it out? |
Re: New 99 Sonata Keyless entry question
They didn't want to give them to you probably because they lost them.
I've had trouble getting some units into programming mode and have had to replace the control module. |
Re: New 99 Sonata Keyless entry question
Am I suppose to get an audible sound when entering the programing mode on
the keyless entry only model, or just counting the number of times I tap the wires together? |
Re: New 99 Sonata Keyless entry question
According to TSB 01-90-011, there should be a chirp unless it's a 2000
Sonata system. Knowing that these were sometimes dealer installed, it's possible that a 2000 keyless unit was installed in your 1999, especially if it was installed a significant time after the vehicle purchase. Now that I think about it, I had to replace a few sirens as well. |
Re: New 99 Sonata Keyless entry question
Thanks for your help on this (no help from my own dealer of course)... I
did go out and purchase a key fob as they said I could return it if it didn't work (it was only $28 ). I flicked the wires together like it said in the TSB, I got no audible sounds between "flicks" but when I was done, I did have a programed remote that works to lock / unlock the drivers door (with key 1) then unlock the rest (with key 2) which gives a 2 pezio chirp for lock and 1 for unlock...More fuel for my fire when I go in to the dealer for the idler pully that they have to replace due to the buyers contract I have with them....Thanks again for your info, I couldn't have found this stuff out without your knowledge! |
